ODP 2 is our newly formed pre-professional dance ensemble in residence at Hunter Dance Center in the Heights. ODP 2 dancers have the opportunity to work and train in contemporary dance techniques as they work with professional guest artists and choreographers to build a full length contemporary story ballet from the ground up. The inaugural performance of ODP 2 will be “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” presented in the Spring of 2017.
Dancers must be 10 – 18 years old (by September 1, 2016) with strong technique to audition. Once cast, dancers commit to taking a minimum of 3 ballet classes and 1 modern class a week. All classes do not have to be at Hunter Dance Center, although significant tuition discounts will be given to company members. Dancers must be able to commit to weekly company technique and repertory classes on Saturdays at Hunter Dance Center, must make themselves available for all technical and dress rehearsals required for the Spring performance, and be committed to working as a team to build a positive, nurturing, and creative ensemble experience.
